A Seed List has similar properties to a Normal list, but allows a limited number of subscribed contacts. Seed lists are useful to add to test email addresses to a campaign. When you send a campaign, you have an option to include a Seed List as part of the Campaign in addition to he main List of subscribed contacts. The contacts on the Seed List receive the Campaign message just like regular contacts, but you do not need to manually subscribe the Seed Contacts to every list.
Contacts are added to a Seed List using the same methods as a Normal List. The number of Contacts allowed in a Seed List is determined on a system basis. The default limits are as follows:
- 255 on the Saas
- 25 on other systems
To Create a Seed List
To create a Seed List, follow these steps.
- Go to Lists > Lists, and click Add List.
- Enter a Name.
- From Type, select Seed.
- Click Save.
Seed List Properties
After you create the new List, the Edit List page displays allowing you to define List properties. Setting properties is only necessary if you plan to deploy campaigns to the Seed List alone. If the Seed List will only be used in conjunction with the deployment of a Normal List, the properties from the Normal List are used for the campaign.
Subscribe Contacts
Once the list is created, use one of the following methods to subscribe contacts:
-
Batch subscribe (non-Customer Key realm)
-
Import wizard
-
API subscribe or batch subscribe methods
