Event Report

Overview

The Event Report Wizard allows you to generate a report of subscribers who engaged in your campaign(s).  The results file contains a list of subscribers and the related tracking event for the selected campaigns to report.

Feature

The Event Report Wizard can be accessed by any user with Editor, List Manager, or Editor permissions.  These reports contain subscriber specific details, so they are limited to only those users allowed to view such details. 

Accessing the Event Report Wizard

The Event Report Wizard is accessed from the Reports menu.  To open the page, go REPORTS > GENERATE REPORT > EVENT WIZARD.  The first page of the wizard displays allowing you to make selections to create a report.

Running a Campaign Specific Event Report

To run an Event Report  for events associated with specific campaigns:

  1. Go to REPORTS > GENERATE REPORT > EVENT WIZARD.
  2. Select campaigns to compare based on filter critera by: Campaign Date.
    1. Enter a From and To date in the format mm/dd/yyyy to find Campaigns run within the range.  Click the Calendar icon next to the textbox to browse for a date.  From date is required. The To date will default to today's date if left blank. 
    2. Optionally, enter part or all of the List Name of the list associated to the campaign in the List/Campaign Name contains field. Only campaigns run from Lists matching all or part of the text string will be included in the search results.  For example, if you have three lists with the string "Monthly" in the name, all campaigns for those three list will be found.
    3. Optionally, enter a Minimum number of pieces sent.  Only campaigns that have been sent to at least that number of subscribers will be included in the search results.  For example, if you run test segments to 10 subscribers each, and only want to report on the full campaigns to your subscriber base, enter a number greater than 10.  If you enter 11, all campaigns sent to 11 or more subscribers will be found.
    4. If you wish to include Hidden Campaigns in your report, select Display Hidden Campaigns.  
    5. Click VIEW RESULTS. All Campaigns matching the search criteria will be displayed including Campaign ID, List Name, Template Name and Segmentation Rule (in parenthesis), Date Sent, and Pieces Sent
    6. Select one or more campaigns, then click NEXT.
  3. Select Subscriber options and Events.
    1. Select Subscriber Data. Email is selected by default and required.  In realms with Customer Key enabled, it is also selected by default and required (only available on some systems).  Subscriber Data includes all the default fields for a Subscriber, such as Name and Address.  The dates the Subscriber Record were Created and last Updated are also available to report.
    2. Select one or more Event Types.  At least one Event must be selected to continue. Events include basic tracking for Opens and Clicks, as well as tracking for Social Sharing and Video.  To include specific URLs, select Choose URLs.
    3. Select Subscriber Custom Data.
    4. Select Browser/Device Info.  This allows you to include the Operating System, Browser, and Client Type for any tracked Open or Click. 
    5. Click NEXT.
  4. If you selected Choose URLs, the option to choose the Click Through URLs will display sorted by campaign and including any Friendly Names.  Click to select the tracking links to include in the report, then click NEXT.
  5. Select result file options.
    1. Enter a Report Name.  If none is defined, a default name is in the format "Custom Report for [user name].ext".  If a report of the same name already exists, it will be overwritten.
    2. Select the Date Format to display the dates in the report: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss ZZZ OR mm/dd/yy hh:mm am/pm
    3. Select the Report Format to save the file: Comma Separated CSV file, Tab Delimited Text file, Pipe Delimited Text file.
    4. Select Quote Text to surround the data fields with quotation marks.  This could be helpful if there are characters in the data fields that could be interpreted as a delimiter, such as a comma in a List Name.
    5. Select Notify to have an email sent to you when the report file is complete.
  6. Click SUBMIT.

The progress page will display and the report will run.  You may navigate away from this page while the report is running.  When the report is complete, you will receive an email notification if you selected the option. You can access the completed report from REPORTS > FILE MANAGER under the Reports folder.

Running an Event By Date Report

To run an Event Report  for events that have occured within a date range associated with any campaign (or not associated to a campaign at all)

  1. Go to REPORTS > GENERATE REPORT > EVENT WIZARD.
  2. Select campaigns to compare based on filter critera by: Event Date.
    1. Select by: Event Date.
    2. Enter a From and To date in the format mm/dd/yyyy to find Events that have occurred within the range.  Click the Calendar icon next to the textbox to browse for a date.  From date is required. The To date will default to today's date if left blank.
    3. The List/Campaign Name, Pieces Sent, and Hidden Campaigns options are ignored, since the report is for events are regardless of Campaign.
    4. Click NEXT.

  2. Select result file options.

If selected in Wizard, the Type of Client (ie: PC, Mobile) associated with the event.  Only Available for Opens or Click-Throughs.
