The Deploy Email action allows you to send an email message to a batch of one or more Contacts. This is similar to the normal deployment of a campaign via the Deploy Campaign Wizard, with the following limitations:
- Advanced deployment settings are not supported (throttling, a/b split, publish to super lists, seed list, deliverability)
- Fillin fields are not supported.
- No option to deploy Plain Text or HTML only content.
Clicking the Action in the workspace opens the Deploy Email popup. Several options must be set for each Deploy Email action:
- Email Tracking Name: Required textbox to identify the campaign in reporting. The string must be unique for every Deploy Email instance in the Automation Campaign. Use a short, recognizable abbreviation or phrase. For example, a welcome campaign may have several Deploy Email. You could use a series of names like:
- Welcome
- W_Offer1
- W_Offer2
- W_Remind
- W_Final
- Template: Required listbox to select a Template of content to deploy. The template must contain HTML content.
- List Definition: Required listbox to select a List Definition which contains the settings required to deploy a campaign, such as From, Reply To, and Bounce Address.
- Label: Optional listbox to select a Label for reporting.
- Account Profile: Optional listbox to select an Account Profile.
- Subject Line: Required textbox to define the email Subject Line. The Subject Line defined in the select Template is always overridden.
- Google Analytics: Optional fields to include Google Analytics tracking tags in links. The fields appear if Google Analytics is enabled in the Realm and are filled by default from the Realm settings. NOTE: The default %%SEGMENTATION_RULE%% tag is ignored in Automation Deploy Actions
- Notify: Optional checkbox to define an email address to send a Notification when the message has been deployed. If selected, the Notify Email Address field will appear and is required.

The saved Deploy Email action will appear in the workspace with the Email Tracking Name and Subject Line displayed in the action details.
Validation
If the Deploy Email action option has not been defined, it will appear in the workspace with a red border.
Attempts to save the Automation Campaign with an incorrectly defined action will result in an error, such as:
- Deploy Email Subject line can not be empty. Please enter a Subject in each Deploy Email action.
- Deploy Email List Definition can not be empty. Please choose a List Definition in each Deploy Email action.
- Deploy Email Template can not be empty. Please choose a template in each Deploy Email action.
- Deploy Email Email Tracking Name can not be empty. Please enter a Name in each Deploy Email action.
- Deploy Email Improper formatted Notify Email Address in email action.
Considerations
- Advanced deployment settings are not supported (throttling, a/b split, publish to super lists, seed list, deliverability)
- Fillin fields are not supported.
- Only MIME formatted content is deployed. There is no option to deploy Plain Text or HTML only content.
- The Subject Line defined in the selected Template is always overridden by the Subject Line defined in the Action.
- Once the Automation Campaign is saved, a new List will be auto-generated using the List Definition in the Action. The List is not available to Edit or Delete.
- If you make a change to the List Definition after the Automation Campaign has been saved, you must Sync Lists to update each auto-generated list based on the List Definition.
