Edit Subscription Action

The Edit Subscription action allows you to add Contacts to a single list, unsubscribe Contacts from a single list, or globally opt out Contacts from all lists in the realm.  Subscription changes from a Automation Campaign do not result in a Tracking Event.

Clicking the Action in the workspace opens the Edit Subscription popup. Either one or two options must be set for each Edit Subscription action:

• Edit Status Option: Radio buttons to select the subscription change type:
  • Add to List: Add new subscription to the selected list
  • Opt Out: Remove subscription from the selected list
  • Global Opt Out: Remove subscriptions from all lists in the realm
• Apply to List: Listbox to select a list if 'Add to List' or 'Opt Out' are selected

To Add a Contact to a List

1. Drag the Edit Subscription action to the workspace.
2. Click the action to display the Edit Subscription popup.
   
3. Select Add to List.
4. From Apply to List, select a list in which to create the new subscription. 
5. Click SAVE to save the action settings.  Click CANCEL to close the popup without saving the changes.

The saved Edit Subscription action will appear in the workspace with the action detail 'ADD_TO_LIST' and the name of the selected list.

To Opt Out a Contact from a List

1. Drag the Edit Subscription action to the workspace.
2. Click the action to display the Edit Subscription popup.
3. Select Opt Out.
4. From Apply to List, select a list from which to remove the existing subscription.  
5. Click SAVE to save the action settings.  Click CANCEL to close the popup without saving the changes.

The saved Edit Subscription action will appear in the workspace with the action detail 'OPT_OUT' and the name of the selected list.

To Globally Opt Out Contacts from All Lists

1. Drag the Edit Subscription action to the workspace.
2. Click the action to display the Edit Subscription popup.
3. Select Global Opt Out.  The Apply to List listbox will be hidden.
4. Click SAVE to save the action settings.  Click CANCEL to close the popup without saving the changes.

The saved Edit Subscription action will appear in the workspace with the action detail 'GLOBAL_OPT_OUT'.

Validation

If the Edit Subscription action options have not been defined, it will appear in the workspace with a red border.

Attempts to save the Automation Campaign with an incorrectly defined action will result in an error, such as:

• ERROR: Edit Subscription action requires a selection. Please choose either an Opt out option or Add to List.
• ERROR: Edit Subscription action requires a list. Please choose a list option for Opt Out or Add to List.

Considerations

• Any options defined in the List properties will be honored on Subscribe.  
  • Contact will be added to the selected Default Automation Campaign. 
  • Confirmation and Courtesy subscription messages will be delivered.
• If the Contact has an Opt-Out record for the selected list, or a Global or Universal Opt-Out record, the subscription will fail.  There is no option to Force the subscription.
• If the Contact is already subscribed to the List, no new subscription will be created.
• Any options defined in the List properties will be honored on Unsubscribe/Opt Out.  
• Courtesy opt out message will be delivered.
• If the Contact has an Opt-Out record, no new opt out will be created.
