Error email notification indicates missing From Address

Question:

When my automation campaign deploys, I receive an email notification indicating the from address is missing, but the List and List Definition have a From Address defined.  How do I fix this?

SubjectAn Exception occurred in lifecycle campaign Default

MessageError Message: An exception was caught in processAction: Transactional Send Error - FAILURE: missing from address.

Answer:

When a new Deploy Action is added to an Automation Campaign, a copy of the List Definition is created as a child of the List Definition selected in the Deploy Action.  If the original List Definition had no From Address defined at the time the copy was created, then the copy will also have no From Address.  To verify the child List Definition has a From Address defined:

  1. Go to LISTS > LIST DEFINITIONS.
  2. Next to the List Definition associated with the Automation Campaign, click VIEW LISTS.
  3. Select the checkbox next to the list, then click SYNC LISTS.
  4. Click YES to update the selected list.
