Question
How do I create a segmentation rule to pull contacts with or without a tracking event in one campaign, and with or without a different tracking event in another campaign?
Answer
While the Event Based Segmentation wizard will allow you to find contacts in multiple campaigns with or without one or more tracking events, it does not allow you to search for contacts in different campaign groupings.
The following example uses the Standard Segmentation to create a rule that will target only the contacts who were not sent one campaign, but were sent a second campaign and did not open. Use the following steps and modify for your needs.
- Go to LISTS > SEGMENTATION > CREATE STANDARD RULE.
- Enter a Name.
- Enter an optional Description.
- Drag the following Fields to the workspace in the following order without grouping, and set the options:
- Email Address Is not Null
- Tracking Campaign ID Equals [campaign_id1]
- Tracking Event Type Equals Open Message
- Email Address Is not Null
- Tracking Campaign ID Equals [campaign_id1]
- Tracking Event Type Equals Sent Message
- Drag rule 2 and 3 to group with rule 1.
- Drag rule 5 and 6 to group with rule 4.
- Drag rule 3 to group with rule 2 and set the Operator between the two to AND, making a sub-group under rule 1.
- Drag rule 6 to group with rule 5 and set the Operator between the two to AND, making a sub-group under rule 4.
- Set the Operator between rule 1 Email Address and the group below to NOT.
- Set the Operator between rule 4 Email Address and the group below to NOT.
- Set the Operator between the two larger groups to AND.
- Click SAVE.
Your rule should appear as follows:
