Several scheduled reports created through the Calendar include an option to send the resulting file to a remote destination. This allows you to synchronize contact and email engagement data between the platform and your managed CRM, ERP or similar customer databases. By configuring access to your remote destination, and selecting the location in the final stages of the wizards, the results of the report will appear automatically on your preferred server, removing the need to manually download exports from the platform. Before you can define a File Destination, you must have an S3 Bucket available with user account details you can access.
Adding a Destination Configuration
You can define destinations for multiple buckets to allow transmitting logs and reporting to several locations if necessary.
To add a destination:
- Go to REPORTS > S3 MANAGER to display the currently configured destinations, including the Name, Bucket, and Access Key.
- Click ADD to open the S3 Destination form.
- Enter a unique, recognizable Name to define this destination. This is the name that will be used in the Wizards when you select a destination.
- Enter the required AWS Key, AWS Secret Key, and S3 Bucket location.
- Click CREATE to save the settings and create a new file destination. Click CANCEL to close the form without saving.
Editing a Destination Configuration
If you need to change a configuration, you can edit the destination details. To edit a destination:
- Go to REPORTS > S3 MANAGER to display the currently configured destinations, including the Name, Bucket, and Access Key.
- Click the Name of the destination to edit.
- Make any necessary changes, then click UPDATE to save the change. Click CANCEL to close the form without saving.
Deleting a Destination Configuration
If you need to change a configuration, you can edit the destination details. To edit a destination:
- Go to REPORTS > S3 MANAGER to display the currently configured destinations.
- Click the Name of the destination to edit.
- Click DELETE to remove the configuration. There is no modal to warn or verify the deletion. Once clicked, the configuration is removed and you will return to the list of destinations. Click CANCEL to close the form without deleting.
Testing a Configuration
Once you have defined a destination, you can quickly test to ensure files are transferring. To do this, go to REPORTS > S3 MANAGER then click the gear icon in the Test column next to your configuration. The platform will attempt to upload a test file with the provided filename to the server. Once complete, a notification indicates the name of the test file uploaded to the destination. Click CONTINUE to return to the list of destinations.
You will also receive an email with the subject line "File Transfer Complete" and details to indicate if successful or failed. Login to your S3 Bucket to verify the file has been stored successfully.
If the credentials are invalid, you will receive an error page. Click BACK to return to the list of destinations and update your configuration before trying again.
