File Manager

Overview

Access reports and export files in the File Manager.

Feature

Reports and other files generated from within the platform are saved to the File Manager.  You can also use the File Manager as a secure location to share files for email Campaigns among your team.

Accessing the File Manager

The File Manager is accessed from the Reports menu.  To open the File Manager page, go REPORTS > FILE MANAGER.  Here are some details about the columns available in the File Manager:

File Type

An icon of the file type or folder.

File Name

Click the File or Folder name to view the file or open the folder.

Size

The size of a file.

Date

The date the file was uploaded.

FTP

Click the FTP icon to send a file to another location via FTP or SFTP.

Rename

Click the Rename icon to rename a file or folder.  This will display a small dialog where you can enter a new name.

Delete

Click the X to delete a file or folder.  You must delete all files from a folder before you can delete the folder itself.

Uploading Files

To upload files to the File Manager:

  1. Go to REPORTS > FILE MANAGER.

  2. Click the Choose File button, to browse for and select files to upload.  The selected file will appear in the File Queue below.  You may select up to 10 files at one time for uploading.

  3. Click the Upload File icon  to upload the selected file(s).

Repeat this process if there are more files that need to be uploaded.

Accessing Files

To view the files in the File Manager, click the name of the file in the list.  Some files cannot be viewed within the browser, and you will be prompted to save instead.

To download a file, right click the file and then select the Save option.  A dialog box will appear allowing you to select a download location for the file.  For Macintosh users, refer to your browser’s Help documentation for information related to saving files.

Creating a File Folder

Create folders to better manage files in the File Manager.  To create a folder, enter a name into the Folder name text box and click the NEW folder icon.  To upload a file into the folder, first select the folder, then begin the upload process.

System Folders

While some files like Contact Exports are stored in the root directory of the File Manger, others are stored in system folders.  Those include the following:

archive

Individual tracking data for each realm is "rolled up" after a set period of time.  That data is no longer accessible through Event Reports, and raw data is archived in this folder.

raw_data

Files created through the Download Data wizard.

reports

Files created through the Reporting features in the platform are stored in this folder.

Any system folders that are deleted will be automatically recreated.

Case Sensitivity

The Media Manager is case sensitive for Folder and File names on Linux OS systems.  It is possible to have two Files or Folders with same name if the case is different, such as:

  • Test    AND

  • test    AND

  • TEST

However, the Media Manager is case insensitive on Windows based OS systems.  You cannot have two Files or Folders with the same name, no matter the case:

  • Test    OR

  • test    OR

  • TEST    but not more than one

It is recommended that you do not create Files or Folders with the same name, regardless of case, to prevent confusion later when accessing your Files.
